We were beyond excited to reunite with our long time collaborator, Director Mark Lewis, for our third thrilling collaboration – once again joining forces with the incredible team at Raw.
STOLEN: HEIST OF THE CENTURY
A gripping telling of the infamous February 2003 diamond heist in Antwerp, Belgium – and the meticulous plan that allowed the thieves to penetrate the diamond centre’s supposedly impenetrable vault.
Our role was to craft the visual language of the film’s on screen graphics, designing all typographic elements such as the opening titles and the card, which for its animation were heavily influenced by the mechanical working of a safe combination lock. Visualising the precise timed clicks of the mechanism as away to transition the text in and out. This distinctive style was carried through multiple text sequences, providing a cohesive visual thread across the documentary.
Beyond typography, we developed a wide range of integrated graphics elements – from personal photographs and investigative imagery to maps and official documents. Each asset was carefully designed to feel embedded within its scene, enhancing the storytelling without pulling the audience out of the investigation. We incorporated tactile details such as paper textures, handwritten notes, marker pen scrawls, and even physically torn documents, which we had filmed and photographed to heighten authenticity.
In total, Blue Spill delivered over 60 bespoke GFX elements, working within an ACES colour pipeline in Adobe After Effects and Autodesk Flame to ensure precision, consistency, and a cinematic finish.
