Blue Spill SHEIKH it up!
Blue Spill jumps in with director Ceri Isfryn and Voltage TV for Amazon’s three-part docuseries centered around British journalist Mazher Mamood’s generated headlines by his use of false identities.
With the core of this story centred around one particular newspaper our main focus for The Fake Sheikh graphics, was to recreate the headlines and newspaper articles to accompany the many breaking stories throughout the series. Working with Ceri, we established that we wanted the newspapers to be grounded in realism and not a graphical world. We set about using tactile textures of paper and ink and halftone effects to create newspaper graphics that appeared realistic and believable. We also allowed these textures and aesthetic to inspire the lower third design and title sequence.
Overall we created and delivered over 70 graphics for The Fake Sheikh using an ACES workflow in Adobe After Effects and Autodesk Flame.
